Unhealthy Habits and Anger = Irritability

Do you know what is considered an “unhealthy habit?”

What happens when we have unhealthy habits such as not sleeping, eating, and we mix that with feeling angry – what does that make? These things are like ingredients that we don’t usually think about until we see the outcome in our behaviors. What this can actually create is IRRITABILITY. When we are feeling irritable that’s often a sign that there’s a few things happening internally or in our environment that’s impacting us. A lot of people become really irritable when they are in a position of ‘HALT’ which is an acronym for:
  • Hungry
  • Angry
  • Lonely
  • Tired
If you aren’t feeding your body good things and getting adequate sleep, you may feel straight up crappy or  feeling irritable. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if its those things that are making you irritable or if you are actually clinically depressed or anxious. It’s a good idea when you’re feeling pretty irritable to take a quick inventory:
  • Have I eaten lately? Am I hungry? Have I eaten the right things?
  • Am I upset? Has someone hurt me? Do I feel offended?
  • Am I wishing to be around others? Do I crave connection?
  • Have I been sleeping okay? Is my schedule to full? Can I have time to relax?
